[evil wizard was close enough for an explanation, given the type of world rupert seemed to come from.]
His power is to transform people into villains when they're overwhelmed by negative emotions - like anger, or sadness, or jealousy. That girl was jealous of me because the boy she likes wanted to go out with me, not with her. [...] So she came after me to try and threaten me into giving him up. Ladybug kept trying to help, but she wasn't able to defeat her, and I'd been running from her all day, so I got really mad...
Wow, that is... a seriously messed up power! What's even the point of something like that, or did he just want to mess with people? Either way, I'm really sorry you got stuck in the middle of something like that. It ended up okay, though, right?
Every time, he sends people out to capture the Miraculouses - magical jewelry that the heroes use to fight him. [she glances down and fiddles with her necklace, which she hadn't been wearing in the memory.] My theory is he wants to collect a whole bunch of them, so he has people cause trouble to lure the heroes out so he can take them from them...
[i'm just going to let another memshare answer for her! while i grumble about astruc always writing marinette/ladybug as Super Rude to anyone she sees as a romantic threat.]
[well. she has a hand over his mouth, so he doesn't say anything, but—
she will get a memory that starts with the sound of an explosion, going on until he meets an unusual creature (6:59 to 9:32). there'll be a sinking, despairing feeling when the aforementioned monster gives him the information he asked for in the end.]
It was all just a misunderstanding. Well - no, okay, the part about the war in the past and all the bloodshed and everything was not a misunderstanding, my dad is seriously the worst. [...] Uh, was the worst.
[he seems very unbothered by that past tense, at least. anyways.]
But the part about the prophecy, and the whole forest overtaking the world of men thing - it didn't turn out the way we thought. It was okay.
Okay, so like... [he sighs.] Backstory! It was this whole thing. So, like the huge creepy spider monster was saying, Amir and I... Our dads fought this huge war right after we were born. One thing led to another, the earth itself cursed them, then a huge, evil forest started spreading over both of our kingdoms. So we knew that would keep happening unless we fulfilled the prophecy, and because of the war they had started and the way it was worded, everyone kind of assumed that one kingdom rising meant - one of us beating the other in combat in a very final way.
[this lore...... but he just kind of sighs after that, frowning.]
But that was stupid, and wrong, and everyone had just been interpreting it in a really incorrect way. It turned out not to be about one kingdom winning, or conquering, or anything like that, it was about... unity. About rising together, not one rising over the other.
Depending on how long we're stuck here, the entirety of your engagement period might pass before you get back. So, you should get married as soon as you return.

...Gonna be honest, I have no idea at all what just happened! But were you okay? I mean, with the... horn. Did it go away?
no subject
Eventually, yeah. It was - did I ever tell you about Hawkmoth? I can't remember...
no subject
[he pauses, trying to think about what else she told him.]
He was, like, a villain or something? An evil wizard...?

...Oh! So you're a hero, too! That's really cool, Lila.

[she puts a hand over his mouth. shh!]
I know Hawkmoth's not here, but secret identities are a secret for a reason! I'm not supposed to tell anyone!

[screams internally]
Yes. Accurate. Anyways. Everything is fine now.
no subject
Good for you! So when's the wedding?
no subject
Well, we literally just got engaged on the day I came here, so. If we get out of here okay, probably a couple months down the line.
