[Sieghart is already in the nap room, seated upright on his bed of choice from last night. When Lila enters, he lifts his head. They're still far apart enough that he doesn't confer his emotions onto her.]

Hey. Did you watch the investigation?

Mmhm. It was Wang Lu and Byleth.

[byleth was not a surprise!

[He nods.]

That means someone acted independently again.

Yeah.

...I was sort of expecting them to leave her alive, though - in case they couldn't find anyone at a trial...

[seems a little shortsighted to her...]

But... maybe it's better this way. She won't have to keep killing people anymore, and without an "easy" vote, they'll be more motivated to look for whoever did it this time.

[ercnerd]

They may not have had a choice.

[Even from this distance, a wave of worry reaches Lila.]

But it's too early to say. We'll just have to see what happens tomorrow.

I hope it's not as... much... as last week.

The longer this goes on, the more people will hurt. It doesn't help that they don't have the information we do.

Maybe we should try to put some of it into the marquee...?

It's too risky. . . . Besides, knowing the truth won't lessen the pain of loss.

[she sighs]

I guess that's true. [...] I wonder if whoever wins this week's auction will bring one of them back.

It's possible. When someone important to you dies, you'd do anything to get them back . . .

[speaking from experience there, eh, sieghart?]

...I guess we'll just have to wait and see. [...] But if one of them is brought back, what if they're attacked again?

That's the risk of being over there. Until this is over, nobody is safe. But, if you ask me, it's better for more people to be there than here.

...agreed. I wish we could be over there.

But we're definitely not staying here. Sooner or later, we'll leave this place—even if we have to force our way out.

I told Crow maybe our next craft should be a battering ram as a joke, but the more I think about it, maybe I shouldn't have been joking.

[ercnerd]

Where are you going to get the materials for a battering ram?

Chairs and tables. Or maybe we could take apart some of the playground equipment and repurpose it.

[ercnerd]

Sounds like a pain.

. . . I have the feeling our condition is more than just physical, but it wouldn't hurt to give your plan a try.

More than just physical...? But the dorm heads have been able to visit us. Aren't we just - somewhere else on campus?

[ercnerd]

If it were that simple, we'd be able to leave with the Dorm Heads.

Then, what - are we actually ghosts?

We could be. In my experience, the dead don't look any different from the living.

One thing's for sure, though: at the very least, our souls are ours.

...of course our souls are ours. Who else would they belong to...?

Exactly. They don't belong to anyone else. That's why we're going to get out of here with our souls intact.
