Why is every place that's conjured with magic so troublesome?

Oh, sure. I've been trapped in a wizard's labyrinth before. It wasn't quite the same, but I also visited an artificial afterlife recently.

[wtfox]

What were they like...?

[ercnerd]

The labyrinth was full of monsters. As for the Realm of Death . . . it was an unsightly place with the stolen souls of the dead.

[wtfox]

That sounds ... unpleasant.

[ercnerd]

Sounds like this place, doesn't it? But the air here is much better. Because of the unharvested energy of death, even breathing was hard back there.

[wtfox]

Something like that can make it hard to breathe?

[ercnerd]

The living aren't meant to interact with such energy. It presses around and down on you like a weight.

Eugh, scary!

It was unsettling.

Thankfully, we haven't had to worry about that here.

Yeah, that's a relief! ...though this is really strange for an afterlife.

[ercnerd]

Well, yeah! I grew up hearing, like... if you're good you'll go to heaven, and if you're bad you'll go to hell. This isn't really either.

[ercnerd]

Yeah? That's different from the Underworld I know. There really are all kinds of dimensions out there.

[wtfox]

I guess so! Haha, the people from the churches back home would lose their minds if they knew.

[ercnerd]

Are you going to tell them?

[wtfox]

[she shrugs]

...they'd just think I was lying.

[ercnerd]

Haha. Of course. No member of the clergy will believe that the afterlife is actually a daycare.

Even if they saw it themselves, they'd probably think they were hallucinating.

Well, for their sakes, I hope they don't ever see this place.

Yeah, me too! It'd be, um, bad.
