Oh, it's liégeois au chocolat! It's got ice cream and whipped cream.
[this website is such a rabbit hole im in hell i want to eat at a french school for lunch]
I've been to a lot of them, actually! My mom is a diplomat, so we moved around a lot because of her job, so I transferred schools a lot. We always learned a lot of interesting things, and it was nice to get to make friends in the classes. Were you by yourself when you were tutored?
Oh, all kinds of things. Italy has embassies in a lot of different countries, and she's really good at her job, so they'd send her wherever they needed her most. She's stationed in Paris right now because a lot of other diplomats were afraid to go there because of the Hawkmoth thing...
[the. the what thing, lila?]
Aww, that's too bad. And this whole situation is kind of... not great, but at least you'll get to meet a lot of other people in your classes now. Are you excited for tomorrow?
[he isn't sure what italy or paris are, but more importantly:]
Hawkmoth thing? What are hawkmoths? Are they moths as big as hawks? Because that sounds terrifying. Although, a hawk as big as a moth might be kind of cute...
[he pauses for a minute.]
I mean... I'm excited to keep looking for a way out. Don't get me wrong, I like meeting other people, but now wasn't the best time for an impromptu vacation?
Oh, no - Hawkmoth. That's, um, his secret villain name. He's been terrorizing the city for a long time now... I wish he was a moth-sized hawk!
[SIGHS.]
But, yeah, that's fair. Of course we all want to get back. And we should definitely be able to learn a little more tomorrow - like, maybe those buildings they were working on will be ready? They can't expect us to have classes in our dorms, can they? Ooh, or maybe there will be a library. We might be able to find maps!
If you were going for an imposing, evil wizard villain name, a kind of moth seems like a weird choice... But who knows what someone like that is thinking. Are there any good wizards that can stop him?
Some people are scared of moths! Maybe it was the scariest thing he could think of. [what is hawkmoth's life, what are his choices.] There are! They're - well, I guess they're technically superheroes, and he's a supervillain, but they use powers, so it's easier to think of them as wizards. There's a team of them that are working to protect everyone.
...hopefully they'll have one here! I mean, they should, right? Classes are one thing, but if there isn't a library, we won't be able to do research and stuff if they give us homework. Not that that's probably going to be everyone's priority, but we could use the library for other things, like figuring out how to get home.
[curious! but then he tilts his head, a little bit of teasing slipping into his tone.]
Wait, let me get this straight. If you got pulled into an unfamiliar world where we're all expected to go to school even though we never enrolled, you'd still do the homework?
It's a little different... from what I heard from other people, magic seems more versatile? But the powers the heroes and villains have usually do just one thing. It's like if a wizard only knew one spell.
[she laughs]
That depends! If it'd take up too much time to figure out how to get home, probably not. But if doing it got the people in charge of the place we were stuck to like me enough for them to help me out a little, sure, why not? And who knows, maybe I'd even learn something useful for getting home by doing it.
The superheroes are pretty cool! Hawkmoth sucks, though.
[she giggles]
I don't know if I'd call myself dedicated! I just don't like to let opportunities pass me by, and I won't know if it's an opportunity or not if I don't at least try it out.

[thoughtfully, though:]
Oh, you went to a place like this back home? I always just had tutors. What was it like, though? I'm curious.

[he nods]
Yeah. Only child, and my mom has been... pretty strict when it comes to my upbringing, let's put it that way.

It's a type of moth. But he's like, ummm... hmm... [just.. trying to get an idea of how best to explain it..] ..an evil wizard?
Most schools I've been to do! The one I just came from did.

[nodding!]
I'll have to look forward to it, then, I guess.

Well, if it does end up lasting that long, maybe a bunch of us can study together. Is that something people usually do together...?
