Lila's a bit of a special case by virtue of their coexistence here--and even before that, for how helpful she's always been towards him. It's not that he's any less polite towards her, of course; rather, it's simply that he's grown more comfortable with her constant presence, and lost a tiny bit of his awkward rigidity.
